Fukien tea tree, also known as Carmona or Philippine tea tree, is a subtropical flowering evergreen shrub native to East Asia and Southeast Asia. Its name, “Fukien,” comes from its place of origin Fukien or Fujian, China.
☀️ Bonsai trees need more dedicated than the average indoor plant. In most homes the best place to keep your bonsai is at a south facing window, lots of light is very important to keep your bonsai healthy. If placed just a few feet away from the window it can cause a slow in growth and ultimately kill your plant.
💧 Indoor Bonsais are usually subtropical species (ex: Ficus or Carmona), which means they need relatively high humidity. Keeping your Bonsai on a humidity tray will help keep its humidity at it’s needed level. It is very important to water your, but how often depends on different factors. For best care we recommend not watering if the soil is too wet, we suggest placing your fingers ½” into the soil, if it feels dry add water. Do not water daily, watch your Bonsai and you will start to recognize when watering is needed. The soil mixture greatly influences how often you should water your plant; however, if you water regularly you can use a mixture that retains more water.
🌡 Bonsais do best in temperatures from 64 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and between 57- and 61-degrees Fahrenheit at night.
✨ Fertilizing regularly during growing season is imperative for Bonsai survival. Bonsais are confined tot eh relatively small pots they are planted in, they need proper fertilization to replenish the soils nutrition. It is important to use a fertilizer specifically for Bonsai plants.
☠️ As with many household plants, some bonsai trees are poisonous to humans. These can be fatal or mildly toxic. However, many species are harmless or pose little to no risk.
